The Village Council made recreational pot shops legal by the vote of four Council members. Our group formed to overturn this law. We were able to get this decision on the ballot so that the residents of Stevensville, rather than the four Village Council members, could decide if pot shops should be legal in Stevensville.
On May 2nd, the Village of Stevensville residents will be able to vote YES to repeal the law allowing recreational marijuana shops in Stevensville. Of course, they can also vote no to allow pot shops to become part of the landscape of our community.
We note that recreational marijuana is legal and there are medicinal benefits as well. We also note that there are several shops in our nearby communities such that recreational and medicinal marijuana is readily available without the hardship of lengthy travel. The goal of our group is not to denigrate anyone who uses marijuana for whatever reasons. The goal of our group is to ban the pot shops from our small, quaint, family friendly village. Our community is not a good fit for retail pot shops.
